The Council of State is expected to meet representatives of pre-tertiary teacher unions on Friday, October 9, 2026, as discussions continue to resolve the issues that have led to their ongoing strike.

The meeting, scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Council’s Secretariat, will focus on outstanding concerns involving teacher promotions, allowances for teachers working in deprived areas, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) currently under negotiation with the Ministry of Education.

According to an invitation signed on behalf of the Chairman of the Council’s Economic and Social Development Committee, HRM Drolor Rosso Adamtey I, the meeting will provide an opportunity for Council members to hear directly from the unions about their concerns.

The engagement comes as the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department continues work on the promotion records of 52,000 teachers, a process expected to facilitate the verification of salary adjustments and outstanding arrears.
