The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has brought under control a fire outbreak at Dayspring School in Dansoman, Accra, after firefighters swiftly responded to the incident on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
The fire affected parts of the school building, which is located just behind the Dansoman Fire Station.
At the time of the incident, pupils were on the school premises. However, they were successfully evacuated to safety, with no injuries or casualties reported.
The GNFS said it received a distress call at about 11:00 a.m. reporting the fire at the school. The first fire appliance from the Dansoman Fire Station arrived at the scene at 11:03 a.m. and immediately assessed the situation.
Following the initial assessment, additional support was requested from the Industrial Area Fire Station to help contain the blaze.
Firefighters from the Industrial Area Fire Station arrived at approximately 11:15 a.m. and joined the Dansoman team in tackling the fire. Their combined efforts eventually brought the situation under control and prevented the flames from spreading to other parts of the school.
“We are informed that as of the time of the fire, there were students present on the premises, but thankfully the students were evacuated successfully without any harm,” the GNFS said.
The Service confirmed that the fire had been confined and that no casualties had been recorded.
“All the children are in safe hands, and personnel from both the Dansoman Fire Station and the Industrial Area Fire Station are putting their collective efforts together to ensure that the place remains safe before we disperse from here,” the GNFS added.
The cause of the fire had not been stated at the time of reporting.
