Accra Hearts of Oak Managing Director, Julius Ben Emunah, has resigned from his position less than a year after being appointed as part of the club’s restructuring efforts.
Emunah assumed office on February 2, 2026, taking over from Dr Delali Anku-Adiamah. He announced his resignation in a farewell message shared on Facebook, describing the decision as a difficult one.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce my decision to resign from my position as Managing Director of our dear Accra Hearts of Oak,” he wrote.
Prior to joining Hearts of Oak, Emunah occupied several senior positions at the Ghana Football Association (GFA). His roles included Head of Competitions, Club Licensing Manager, National Safety and Security Officer, and Western Regional Administrator.
In his farewell message, Emunah expressed gratitude to the club’s board, headed by HRH Togbe Afede XIV, for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the club. He also thanked the National Chapters Committee (NCC) for its support throughout his tenure.
Although he is leaving his executive position, Emunah said his relationship with the club would continue.
“Although I am stepping down from my role, I am not stepping away from the club. I remain a proud and committed supporter and will always be available to serve, assist, or support the club in whatever capacity I can.”
He said he was leaving with “immense appreciation” and remained optimistic about the club’s prospects, describing its future as “bright.”
Emunah’s resignation comes shortly after Hearts of Oak opened their 2026-27 Ghana Premier League campaign in impressive fashion, defeating Berekum Chelsea 4-0.
The Phobians will next face defending champions Bibiani Gold Stars at DUN’S Park in their Matchday Two encounter as they seek to maintain their winning start to the season.
