Second Deputy Minority Whip Jerry Ahmed Shaib says he has advised Deputy Minority Leader Patricia Appiagyei to take action over a purported memo alleging that she received GH¢70,000 gift to influence the vetting of ministerial and Supreme Court nominees.
The alleged gift is said to have been shared among members of Parliament’s Appointments Committee to influence their consideration of recent ministerial nominees and nominees for the Supreme Court.
Speaking exclusively to TV3’s NewsCentral on Friday, September 4, 2026, Jerry Ahmed dismissed the allegation as false, insisting that there was “no truth whatsoever” in the purported memo reportedly addressed to the Minority Chief Whip.
“I would also advise that she takes steps to deal with the matter and I have told her that, and I am sure she is going to do that. So, let’s leave her to do that,” he said.
The Weija-Gbawe MP urged the public to disregard the information circulating about the alleged gift.
He further insisted that Patricia Appiagyei had not received any money to influence the vetting process and questioned the source of the purported memo and the signature attributed to her.
“So, I can tell you on authority that I have not dealt with anyone, she has not dealt with anyone, I do not know who is dealing with this and where this is coming from.
“She had not received any money from anyone and she does not know where this is coming from with a certain signature of hers,” he stated.
His comments come amid reports circulating about an alleged GH¢70,000 gift to members of Parliament’s Appointments Committee in connection with the ongoing vetting of nominees.
