The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) and the University of Cape Coast (UCC) have expressed their commitment to deepening cooperation and exploring new areas of institutional collaboration.
The commitment followed a high-level meeting between the leadership of the two institutions after UCC Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dennis Worlanyo Aheto, led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on ADB Managing Director, Edward Ato Sarpong, and the Bank’s Deputy Managing Director in charge of Services, Prof. Ferdinand Ahiakpor.
The UCC delegation included Registrar Gideon Enoch Abbeyquaye and Director of Finance George Amfo-Antiri.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both institutions to strengthen their relationship and identify areas where their respective expertise in academia and financial services could be combined for mutual benefit.
Welcoming the UCC delegation, Edward Ato Sarpong expressed appreciation for the visit and stressed the importance of strong partnerships between institutions.
He said closer collaboration between the banking sector and academia could promote knowledge sharing, develop human capital and generate innovative solutions to support national development.
He also reaffirmed ADB’s willingness to build sustainable partnerships with reputable institutions and explore practical areas of cooperation with UCC.
Prof. Ferdinand Ahiakpor also highlighted the value of stronger links between academia and industry. He noted that closer engagement between universities and businesses could help bridge the gap between academic training and the skills required by industry.
Prof. Dennis Worlanyo Aheto, on his part, thanked ADB management for the warm reception and expressed UCC’s interest in strengthening its relationship with the Bank.
He explained that the visit was partly to express appreciation to ADB for sending a delegation from Accra to congratulate him following his appointment as Vice-Chancellor of UCC.
On institutional cooperation, Prof. Aheto said a stronger partnership between the two institutions could create opportunities for knowledge exchange, capacity building and other initiatives that would benefit both organisations.
The meeting also allowed the two sides to exchange ideas on institutional development and discuss how strategic partnerships could contribute to human capital development and Ghana’s socioeconomic progress.
The engagement marks a renewed chapter in the relationship between ADB and UCC, with both institutions expressing their readiness to deepen their collaboration and pursue practical opportunities for future partnership.
