The National Lottery Authority (NLA) and its local union have reached an agreement aimed at resolving outstanding concerns over staff salaries and income tax deductions.
The agreement was reached during a meeting attended by the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Dr Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo; the Chief Executive Officer of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), Dr George Smith Graham; NLA Board Chairman Frederick Amissah; NLA Director-General Mohammed Abdul-Salam; and executives of the Financial, Business and Services Employees Union (FBSEU).
In a statement issued on Monday, August 24, 2026, the NLA said the meeting produced a consensus on steps to address the outstanding matters and restore industrial harmony.
Management disclosed that the FWSC had expressed its readiness to reconsider its earlier proposal of a 12% salary increase, compared with the union’s 8% proposal.
The NLA, the union and the FWSC are also expected to collaborate to resolve discrepancies arising from income tax calculations affecting staff.
“The Board and Management wish to inform the Local Union, Staff and the Public that, following a meeting with the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Hon. Dr. Abdul Rashid Pelpuo; the Chief Executive Officer of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, Dr. George Smith Graham; the NLA Board Chairman, Mr. Frederick Amissah; the Director-General of NLA, Mr. Mohammed Abdul-Salam; and the executives of the local union led by the national executives of the Financial, Business and Services Employees Union (FBSEU), it has reached consensus to resolve all outstanding issues,” the statement said.
Management subsequently appealed to all staff members to remain calm and resume their duties as efforts continue to settle the outstanding issues.
The NLA also reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling its mandate of generating revenue to support national development while providing “moments of hope and excitement” to its patrons.
