You are not behind: Trusting God’s timing in a world that rushes you

In a world that celebrates speed, visibility, and instant success, many women are silently battling a dangerous lie: “I am behind.”

    Behind in marriage.
    Behind in career.
    Behind in purpose.
    Behind in life.

Social media has amplified timelines that were never ordained by God. We scroll through curated lives, milestone announcements, and success stories, and without realizing it, we begin to measure our journey against someone else’s chapter.

But hear me clearly: You are not behind. You are being prepared.

    There is a difference.

God does not operate on pressure. He operates on purpose.

In many African homes, there are unspoken expectations, by a certain age, you should be married, settled, financially stable, and “figured out.” While these cultural expectations are not inherently wrong, they can become suffocating when they override divine timing.

You begin to make decisions out of fear instead of faith.
You entertain relationships that God never sent.
You pursue paths that look successful but feel empty.

And slowly, you trade purpose for pressure.

But God is not intimidated by your timeline. He is intentional about your transformation.

    Delay is Not Denial

One of the hardest seasons to walk through is the season of waiting. It feels like life is moving for everyone else except you. Doors seem to open for others while yours remain closed.

But what if the closed door is protection?

What if the delay is development?

Many of us want elevation without preparation. But elevation without capacity becomes destruction. God, in His mercy, will never give you what you are not ready to sustain.

That business you are praying for, can your mindset handle the pressure of leadership?
That marriage you desire, have you healed from what broke you?
That platform you seek, are you grounded enough to not lose yourself in it?

Waiting seasons are not wasted seasons. They are building seasons.

You Are Not Behind: Trusting God’s Timing in a World That Rushes You

    Comparison is a Thief

Comparison will make you feel like you are failing when, in reality, you are evolving.

In Ghana and across the diaspora, women are rising in powerful ways, entrepreneurs, leaders, creatives, mothers, change, makers. But the danger is not in their success; it is in how we interpret it.

When you compare, you dishonor your unique assignment.

Your journey was never meant to look like hers.

God is not mass, producing destinies. He is crafting intentional lives.

Your story carries a specific oil. Your experiences, your pain, your resilience all of it is part of your preparation.

So instead of asking, “Why not me yet?”
Begin to ask, “What is God doing in me right now?”

    Trusting the Process

Trusting God’s timing requires surrender. And surrender is not easy. It means releasing control, letting go of the need to understand everything, and choosing faith even when things don’t make sense.

It means showing up when you feel unseen.
It means building when no one is watching.
It means believing when there is no evidence yet.

Faith is not passive. It is active trust.

There are women reading this right now who feel overlooked, forgotten, or stuck. But I want to remind you: God has not forgotten your address.

Your name is still in His plans.

What You Can Do in This Season

    1. Refocus Your Mindset
Stop measuring your life by societal timelines. Measure it by obedience.
    2. Invest in Your Growth
Use this season to develop, spiritually, emotionally, professionally. Growth is never wasted.
    3. Guard Your Heart
Be mindful of what you consume, online and offline. Not everything that looks good is God.
    4. Stay Faithful in the Small
Big doors are often opened by small acts of consistency.
    5. Pray for Alignment, Not Just Acceleration
It is better to arrive at the right place slowly than the wrong place quickly.

    Final Word

    You are not late.
    You are not behind.
    You are not forgotten.

    You are in process.

And when God finishes preparing you, what He releases in your life will not just bless you, it will impact generations.

So take a deep breath. Release the pressure. And walk confidently in your season.

Because what is for you is not passing you, it is being prepared for you.
