The Ghana Police Service has held a solemn memorial ceremony to honor twenty officers who lost their lives in the line of duty over the past year. The event, held at the National Police Training School, brought together families of the fallen officers, senior police officials, government representatives, and members of the public to pay tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the personnel.

The ceremony featured a roll call of the officers, each name read out in recognition of their service and dedication to maintaining peace and security across the country. Their contributions spanned various units including patrol duties, investigations, highway operations, and special assignments. Several officers died while responding to violent crimes, road accidents, and other high risk operations.

In an emotional address, the Inspector General of Police praised the fallen officers for their courage and commitment. He assured their families that their sacrifices will never be forgotten and that the service remains committed to supporting dependents through welfare programs. The Inspector General emphasized that policing is a demanding profession that requires discipline, resilience, and selflessness, and that the fallen officers embodied the highest standards of the service.

Family members who attended the ceremony expressed deep appreciation for the recognition and the continuing support from the police administration. Many described the ceremony as comforting, noting that it helped affirm the value of their loved ones’ work.

The memorial also highlighted the challenges officers face daily as they work to protect lives and maintain order. Senior officials used the occasion to call for increased public cooperation, investment in officer welfare, and enhanced security equipment to help reduce risks associated with police duties.
