The Ghana Police Service has begun a manhunt for three unidentified men who reportedly deposited the lifeless body of a Senegalese teenager at a health facility in Kumasi under suspicious circumstances.

According to reports, the deceased, believed to be a 17-year-old footballer, was brought to the facility by the suspects, who quickly fled the scene after leaving his body there. Hospital staff immediately notified the police, who have since commenced investigations to trace and apprehend the individuals involved.

Preliminary findings suggest the deceased was part of a group of young West African footballers who had traveled to Ghana in pursuit of professional opportunities. Police are yet to determine the cause of death, but sources indicate that an autopsy will soon be conducted to establish the facts.

Authorities are appealing to the public for information that could assist in locating the suspects. The case has raised concerns about the safety and welfare of young foreign football hopefuls seeking opportunities in Ghana’s football ecosystem, where unregulated recruitment and poor living conditions have been recurring issues.

Meanwhile, the Senegalese community in Kumasi is reportedly cooperating with police investigators to identify the victim and facilitate contact with his family.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has assured the public of its commitment to bringing all responsible persons to justice.
