During a recent interview, Hunter Biden claimed that “Epstein introduced Melania to Trump,” citing author Michael Wolff. In a legal notice dated August 6, 2025, Melania’s attorney, Alejandro Brito, called the allegation “false, disparaging, defamatory and extremely salacious,” saying it had caused “overwhelming financial and reputational harm.” The letter, addressed to Biden’s lawyer, demanded an immediate retraction and public apology, with an August 7 deadline.
Brito also criticized Wolff as a “serial fabulist” and noted that previous similar claims had been publicly withdrawn by other outlets and commentators. Melania and Donald Trump maintain that they met in 1998 at a New York Fashion Week party through modeling agent Paolo Zampolli, a version detailed in her memoir.
Hunter Biden has dismissed the legal threat, calling it a “designed distraction.” Legal analysts note that defamation cases involving public figures face a high bar in U.S. courts, requiring proof of actual malice.
