Nutrifoods Ghana Pulls Tasty Tom Tomato Mix Over Bloating Scare

Nutrifoods Ghana Limited, the popular producer behind Tasty Tom products, has announced an immediate recall of all batches of its Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix in 210g and 400g cans due to reports of product bloating.
In addition to these sizes, the recall extends to the Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix packaged in 380g pouches and larger 1.05kg containers.
The decision to recall the affected tomato-based products comes after the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), working together with National Security, received alerts about bloating in some of the products on the market.

In a public statement issued on August 1, Nutrifoods Ghana confirmed:
“Our attention has been drawn by the FDA and National Security to some incidents of bloating in Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix pouches and cans (210g and 400g). We have therefore been directed by the regulator to issue this recall while we investigate the root cause of the problem.”
Nutrifoods is urging all consumers who purchased any of the recalled batches to return the products promptly. Customers can take them to the company’s Tema office or any Nutrifoods distributor across Ghana for safe disposal and replacement.
For further assistance, Nutrifoods has provided dedicated contact details:

The company expressed sincere regret over the situation and reassured the public of its commitment to food safety and quality.
“We deeply regret any inconvenience caused to our consumers and trade partners because of this issue and recall,” the statement continued. “At Nutrifoods Ghana Ltd, we remain dedicated to delivering high-quality products that meet all stringent national food safety standards. We want to reassure everyone that we are working diligently to recover all affected products and replace them without any difficulty.”

The FDA has been conducting inspections at the Nutrifoods facility to verify compliance and ensure corrective measures are in place. As of now, the FDA has not released an official statement on the exact cause behind the bloating incidents.
