Assin South MP, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has strongly denied allegations suggesting he threatened violence in the run-up to the Akwatia by-election. The Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee described the reports—widely circulated on social media—as “malicious” and entirely false.

In a press statement dated July 29, Rev. Fordjour stated, “I wish to state unequivocally that such headlines, captions, and statements are false and are only intended to create public disaffection for me.” He clarified that he has never issued threats of bloodshed or incited violence in any electoral process.

MP Calls for Peace and Cautions Against Misinformation

Reaffirming his unwavering commitment to peaceful elections, Rev. Fordjour emphasized his track record of advocating for justice and accountability. He noted that he has consistently urged the prosecution of electoral violence offenders to deter future incidents and uphold national stability.

He appealed to the general public to disregard the circulating reports, stating that “under no circumstances will I be involved in acts of violence—much less threatening the same.” The MP further warned the perpetrators of the false claims to desist from such actions, stressing that misinformation of this nature damages reputations and undermines the peace Ghana enjoys.
