The family of the late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has officially announced plans to hold a book of condolence and a candlelight vigil in Accra. This comes amid an overwhelming outpouring of love, prayers, and tributes from fans and the public following news of his passing after a brief illness.

In a public statement issued on July 27, 2025, the Fosu family expressed deep appreciation for the national and international show of solidarity. “We are touched by the depth of affection and reverence shown to our beloved,” the statement read. “Daddy Lumba meant so much to so many people, and we thank everyone for celebrating his life and legacy.”

Family Refutes Death Rumours, Confirms Tribute Plans

The family also took the opportunity to address circulating rumors claiming Daddy Lumba was still alive. They clarified that while misinformation had initially spread across social media, the unfortunate news of his death is accurate. “This is a difficult time, and we urge the public to rely only on official family communications,” the statement emphasized.

In honour of the highlife icon, a candlelight vigil will be held in Accra in the coming days, with a book of condolence being opened for fans, dignitaries, and fellow musicians to pay their respects. Details of the funeral and other commemorative events will be announced soon.
