Ghana’s senior women’s national football team, the Black Queens, received a heartwarming reception from Ghana’s Ambassador to Morocco, Her Excellency Charity Gbedawo, at her residence in Rabat during their participation in the 2024 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The visit formed part of the team’s official engagements and served as a significant morale booster ahead of their crucial bronze medal match. The Ambassador and staff welcomed the Queens with open arms, creating a moment filled with warmth, patriotism, and encouragement.
Her Excellency Charity Gbedawo applauded the team for their unwavering determination and fighting spirit throughout the tournament.

“Your journey here has inspired many. Win or lose, you have made Ghana proud, and we stand firmly behind you,” she said with pride.
The visit also featured a special banquet filled with authentic Ghanaian dishes, giving the players a comforting taste of home in the heart of Rabat. The event fostered unity, laughter, and a renewed sense of motivation among the team.
Team captain Portia Boakye extended heartfelt gratitude to the Ambassador and the Ghanaian community in Morocco for their steadfast support, adding that the encouragement had been a driving force behind the team’s spirited performance.
The Queens are now fully focused on their final match against South Africa, scheduled for Friday, July 25 at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca. With bronze at stake, the team is determined to finish the tournament on a high note and make the nation proud once again.
