Real Madrid’s new talisman, Kylian Mbappe, has been hospitalised with an acute case of gastroenteritis, the club confirmed on Thursday, June 19. The illness comes just as the Spanish giants prepare to open their campaign in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, currently taking place in the United States.
The sudden health scare puts Mbappe’s participation in doubt, especially in the opening matches of the tournament. The Club World Cup is a month-long affair, and Real Madrid had high hopes of seeing their record signing light up the competition in his debut appearance.
According to club medical staff, the French forward began showing severe symptoms earlier this week, prompting immediate medical attention. He was subsequently admitted to a hospital for treatment and monitoring.
