Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has been appointed as the Returning Officer for the African Development Bank (AfDB) Presidential Elections, currently underway during the Bank’s 2025 Annual Meetings.

In this pivotal role, Dr. Forson is tasked with overseeing the electoral process to ensure it is transparent, credible, and adheres strictly to the AfDB’s statutes. His responsibilities include verifying ballot integrity, supervising vote counts, and ensuring that all procedures are conducted impartially and efficiently.

Expressing his gratitude for the appointment, Dr. Forson stated:

“I am deeply honoured to have been appointed as the Returning Officer for the presidential elections of the African Development Bank. My duty is to ensure a transparent, credible, and orderly election process in accordance with the Bank’s electoral rules.”
