Go And Ask Akufo-Addo And Bawumia For Forgiveness – Sam George

A leading member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), PK Sarpong, has taken a swipe at Ningo-Prampram MP, Hon. Sam Nartey George, accusing him of political double standards over his comments on Zipline Drone Delivery Services.

In a strongly worded Facebook post, Sarpong reminded the opposition lawmaker of his staunch criticism of the Zipline project when it was first introduced by the Akufo-Addo government. Sam George, like many others in the opposition at the time, had questioned the relevance and cost of using drones to deliver medical supplies to remote areas.

However, the narrative appears to have shifted. According to PK Sarpong, Sam George is now praising the very system he once condemned, a move he described as “hypocrisy of the highest order.”

“Dear Minister Sam Dzata George, I advise that you pray to God for forgiveness as you go to church today. Elder, you ran down Zipline Drone Delivery Services in opposition, but praising same today. Go and ask Akufo-Addo and Bawumia for forgiveness,” Sarpong wrote.

The post has ignited reactions on social media, with some users siding with Sarpong, saying political leaders should be held accountable for their words. Others, however, defended Sam George, arguing that leaders have a right to change their stance when facts on the ground evolve.

The Zipline Drone Delivery Service, introduced during President Akufo-Addo’s first term, faced stiff opposition upon its rollout. Critics questioned its cost-effectiveness and necessity. However, over the years, the system has proven to be impactful in improving access to medical supplies, especially in rural and hard-to-reach areas.

This recent exchange underscores the need for consistency in political discourse and reminds public officials of the long-term visibility of their statements in the digital era.
