Health Minister reaffirms healthcare reform agenda at Family Health University ceremony

Ghana’s Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to transforming the nation’s healthcare sector through comprehensive reforms and fresh investment in frontline healthcare professionals.

Speaking as the Guest of Honour at the 2025 Matriculation and Graduation Ceremony of Family Health University (FHU) in Accra, the Minister stressed that the government is poised to advance healthcare delivery and empower health workers who form the backbone of the system.

Celebrating the Next Generation of Health Professionals

Mr. Akandoh extended heartfelt congratulations to the 303 graduating students and 444 new matriculants, applauding their dedication and the sacrifices made on their journey.

He also commended Family Health University for its critical role in shaping competent and compassionate healthcare professionals, positioning them to meet the evolving needs of Ghana’s health sector.

“The future of healthcare in Ghana is bright because of institutions like Family Health University and the talented young professionals we see here today,” the Minister stated.

Pushing for Reforms and Investment

The Minister’s remarks come at a time when Ghana is rolling out ambitious health service reforms aimed at expanding access, improving infrastructure, and addressing critical human resource gaps.

By prioritizing investment in training and capacity building, the government aims to ensure that facilities across the country are staffed with skilled personnel ready to deliver quality care.

With the graduation of a new cohort of medical professionals, Ghana takes another step toward building a resilient and responsive healthcare system for its citizens.

    Midwifery Students Association (UGHANMSA), Deputy Head of the Business
    and Political Chamber of PENSA Legon, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of
    the Oti Region Students Association (ORSA), and a Member of the
    University of Ghana Parliament House.

    Over the years, he has led and supported numerous student-centered
    initiatives, including academic tutorials, mentorship programmes,
    welfare interventions, and advocacy campaigns aimed at improving the
    student experience and promoting collective growth.

    As an aspiring President of the University of Ghana Students'
    Representative Council (UGSRC) for the 2026/2027 academic year,
    Abraham seeks to champion a vision centered on student welfare,
    accountability, inclusiveness, innovation, and effective representation.
