Ghana’s political and diplomatic community is in deep sorrow following the sudden death of Ambassador Sam Pee Yalley, a highly respected statesman whose passing has triggered an outpouring of tributes across the country.

Among the many voices expressing grief and admiration is the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, who described the news as shocking and painful.

Final Messages of Brotherhood and Hope

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Speaker Bagbin recalled his final interactions with the late Ambassador. On March 29, Yalley informed him that he had been admitted to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for surgery. Despite the surprise, Bagbin responded with immediate prayers and concern.

The next message from Yalley brought relief: “Rt. Hon, operation has been successfully completed.”

The two continued to exchange messages, including one on April 3 in which Ambassador Yalley expressed his gratitude:

“Rt. Hon Good Morning, you really showed me that you are a true brother and friend. God richly bless you.”

A Sudden Loss and a Legacy of Service

The sad news of Ambassador Yalley’s passing on April 6 left Bagbin devastated. He described himself as “drenched in tears and wrapped up in sorrow,” but chose to celebrate the legacy of a man he called “full of faith, courage, intellect, and love.”

A Hero Remembered

Speaker Bagbin praised the late Ambassador’s remarkable contributions to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the nation, and humanity at large. He noted that Yalley had fulfilled his divine purpose, leaving behind a lasting impact on all who knew him.

“Our son, husband, father, brother and comrade has accomplished what he was sent by God to do on earth,” Bagbin wrote, concluding with a moving farewell:

“Comrade, nante yie, breu, breu, breu.”
