Ghanaian football icon Michael Essien is facing a major setback as two of his luxury properties in Accra, Ghana, are scheduled for auction. The former Chelsea and Black Stars midfielder’s houses, located in the affluent neighborhoods of East Legon and Trassaco, will go under the hammer on a court order issued by the Deputy Sheriff, High Court (Commercial Division), on June 12, 2024.

Specific details surrounding the reason for the auction remain undisclosed. However, this news comes as a surprise to many, considering Michael Essien’s illustrious career and reputation as one of Africa’s highest-paid footballers during his prime.Nicknamed “The Bull” or “The Bison” for his dominant playing style, Essien enjoyed stints with renowned clubs like Chelsea, AC Milan, Bastia, and Real Madrid.

The auction is set to encompass two of Essien’s Accra residences: House Number 9 on Stephen Quarshie Crescent in East Legon and House Number 204/205 in Trassaco (Phase 2) Adjiringano. While the exact valuation of both properties remains confidential, an anonymous auctioneer hinted that one of the houses could fetch a staggering price between $20 million and $30 million.

    accountability, inclusiveness, innovation, and effective representation.
