Kuapa Kokoo unveils four CSR projects to improve health and education in Ashanti communities

Kuapa Kokoo, one of Ghana’s leading cocoa cooperatives, has launched four major corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects aimed at strengthening health and education infrastructure in various communities across the Ashanti Region. The announcement marks a renewed commitment by the cooperative to support social development beyond cocoa cultivation.
The CSR initiatives include the construction of health-screening clinics, renovation of existing school buildings, supply of learning materials and textbooks, and provision of nutritional support to under-served schoolchildren. According to Kuapa Kokoo’s management, these efforts respond to long-standing calls from community members for better access to health care and quality education.
During the launch event, community leaders and beneficiary groups expressed gratitude, noting that many of the areas in question had suffered years of neglect. The new health clinics are expected to provide basic medical services, maternal care, and child vaccination programmes, services previously unavailable or located far from these rural communities.
On the education side, renovated classrooms and improved learning materials are intended to reduce overcrowding, improve comfort, and enhance learning outcomes. For many students, these improvements will make school attendance more feasible and reduce dropout rates, especially among girls and vulnerable children.
Kuapa Kokoo leadership explained that the CSR package is part of a multi-year plan and will be monitored for impact. The cooperative has pledged regular community engagement to ensure transparency and gather feedback. They also announced plans to work alongside local education and health authorities to align the projects with national standards.
Civil society organisations have welcomed the move but urged Kuapa Kokoo to integrate long-term sustainability measures such as maintenance funds, community ownership, and capacity building. They emphasised that CSR should not be a one-off gesture but part of a continuous commitment to community development.
For the affected communities, the projects represent hope and tangible progress. Residents say that access to health care and improved schooling infrastructure will uplift living standards, reduce child mortality risks, and provide new opportunities for the youth. For Kuapa Kokoo, the initiative reinforces its social licence to operate and underscores the importance of corporate accountability in Ghana’s agricultural sector.
