Otto Addo to Lead Ghana Black Stars to 2026 FIFA World Cup — GFA Confirms Coach’s Stay

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially confirmed that Otto Addo will remain head coach of the Black Stars as the team prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking at a press briefing, GFA President Kurt Okraku dismissed speculation about Addo’s possible dismissal, insisting there was “no chance of the coach being sacked.” He emphasized that the association has full confidence in Addo’s leadership and long-term vision for the national team.
Otto Addo, who guided Ghana through a challenging qualifying campaign, is now expected to begin the final phase of preparations ahead of the global tournament set to take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The coach’s tenure has been marked by a focus on youth development and tactical restructuring, aiming to rebuild a competitive and disciplined Black Stars side after recent inconsistencies.

Addo, a former Ghana international and Borussia Dortmund talent development coach, is believed to have the trust of several senior players and a growing pool of emerging stars who are expected to play key roles in Ghana’s World Cup bid.
The GFA has also hinted at strengthening technical support for the coaching team, including enhanced data analytics and sports science input, as part of efforts to ensure a stronger performance on the world stage.
Ghana, a four-time African champion, will be making its fifth World Cup appearance, with the country still holding onto memories of its historic quarter-final run in 2010.
