Shatta Wale Plans Grand Wedding With Fiancée Maali After Traditional Rites

Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale has confirmed plans to hold a grand white wedding with his long-time partner and fiancée, Maali Della Tetteh. The artist, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., revealed that although he has already completed traditional marriage rites, he is currently saving towards a church wedding to officially seal their union.

The revelation was made during an appearance on Joy Prime’s PrimeTime show, hosted by George Quaye, aired on October 18, 2025. When asked about his marital status, Shatta Wale responded affirmatively, stating, “I am married already. Or is it because I have not said it?”

He elaborated that he had formally met Maali’s family and received their blessings, fulfilling the core requirements of a customary marriage. “I felt the only appropriate thing I have done with Maali is meeting her parents with a couple of people, and her father has really accepted me,” he said. He added that he presented drinks and other traditional items, in line with Ghanaian cultural practices.

Shatta Wale further stated that while the traditional aspect of the marriage has been observed, he intends to celebrate their union in a more elaborate way when the time is right. “I am saving for that. I am saving for my grand wedding,” he told viewers, suggesting that financial preparation is a key factor in the timing of the upcoming church ceremony.

Shatta Wale and Maali have been romantically linked since early 2023. Their relationship became public after the release of Maali, a music project by the artist, which he later confirmed was inspired by her.
