EOCO Recovers 100 Stolen Luxury Vehicles in Ghana, Over 300 Still Under Investigation

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has successfully retrieved 100 stolen luxury vehicles smuggled into Ghana, as part of its nationwide crackdown on vehicle-related organised crime.
According to EOCO, the impounded cars include some of the world’s most sought-after brands such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, and Lexus. These vehicles were allegedly stolen from overseas markets and shipped into Ghana through complex smuggling networks.
Over 300 Vehicles Under Probe
While 100 vehicles have already been recovered, EOCO disclosed that more than 300 suspected stolen cars remain under investigation. The office is working closely with international partners, including Interpol, to verify the origins of these vehicles and dismantle the networks facilitating their illegal entry into the country.
EOCO has urged the public, especially individuals and businesses dealing in luxury cars, to conduct thorough background checks before purchasing vehicles. Many unsuspecting buyers risk losing their cars if investigations reveal they were smuggled or fraudulently acquired.

Broader Crackdown on Organised Crime
The retrieval forms part of EOCO’s wider efforts to combat financial and organised crime in Ghana. Over the past few years, the agency has intensified operations against money laundering, cyber fraud, and other transnational crimes.
Security analysts say the latest development underscores the growing sophistication of organised crime groups and the need for stronger cross-border cooperation to protect Ghana’s economy and reputation.
With over 300 more luxury cars under scrutiny, EOCO’s clampdown is far from over. Authorities have assured the public that offenders will be prosecuted, and measures are being put in place to safeguard Ghana’s automotive market from infiltration by criminal networks.
