Elon Musk Threatens Apple and Calls OpenAI Boss a Liar as Feud Deepens

Elon and OpenAI Biss Feud Escalates
The ongoing feud between Elon Musk, owner of social media platform X, and Apple has escalated sharply, with Musk threatening legal action against the tech giant over what he describes as anticompetitive practices in its App Store.
In a post on X, Musk accused Apple of creating a closed ecosystem that makes it “impossible” for apps to compete with products from OpenAI, the artificial intelligence company behind ChatGPT. Musk alleged that Apple’s policies unfairly favor its own partnerships and tools, effectively locking out third-party innovation.
The situation took a personal turn when Musk called OpenAI CEO Sam Altman a “liar,” responding to Altman’s recent claim that Musk has used his influence and online platforms “primarily to benefit himself and his own companies.”
This latest public clash is part of a broader rift between Musk and OpenAI, a company he co-founded but left in 2018 after disagreements over its direction and commercialization. Since then, Musk has become one of its most vocal critics, accusing the organization of abandoning its original mission of open research and becoming too closely aligned with corporate interests, particularly those of Microsoft and Apple.
Musk’s threat against Apple focuses on alleged antitrust violations, with the billionaire suggesting that he may formally pursue legal action if the company continues its current App Store practices. Industry observers note that Musk’s stance taps into ongoing global debates about big tech monopolies, app store commission fees, and developer restrictions.
Apple has yet to publicly respond to Musk’s allegations, while OpenAI has maintained that its partnerships are designed to make AI tools more accessible to users worldwide.

The feud is already attracting significant attention from U.S. lawmakers and regulators, many of whom have been pushing for greater scrutiny of tech giants’ market dominance. If Musk follows through with his legal threats, the case could become a major flashpoint in the wider battle over competition and innovation in the AI sector.
