EPL Broadcast Cease on Citi FM
After nearly two decades of bringing the English Premier League (EPL) to Ghanaian listeners, Citi FM has officially ended its live radio coverage of the league.
The Accra-based station, which began broadcasting EPL matches in 2007, confirmed the decision in a statement on Monday, marking the end of an era for football fans who tuned in every weekend for match-day commentary, analysis, and fan engagement.
While Citi FM did not explicitly state the reason for ending the broadcasts, industry sources point to changes in broadcast rights agreements and rising licensing fees as possible factors. The move reflects a broader shift in sports media, with more broadcasters turning to digital streaming platforms and partnerships for content delivery.
Over the years, Citi FM built a strong reputation for its live, in-depth coverage of the EPL, featuring expert pundits, real-time match updates, and post-game discussions that attracted a dedicated audience across Ghana and beyond. Many fans took to social media to express nostalgia and gratitude for the station’s contribution to the football experience in the country.

The station assured listeners that it remains committed to sports programming and will continue to cover football through news updates, analysis, and special sports shows, even without the live EPL broadcasts.
