President Mahama Appoints Ato Forson and Kofi Buah as Acting Ministers After Helicopter Tragedy

Prez. Mahama Names Acting Ministers After National Tragedy
President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah as acting ministers, following the untimely deaths of two cabinet members in the tragic helicopter crash near Obuasi on Wednesday, August 6.
The appointments come amid national mourning, as the country grapples with the devastating loss of five government officials and three military officers in a military helicopter accident in the Adansi Akrofuom area of the Ashanti Region.
Dr. Ato Forson, who is currently the Minority Leader in Parliament, has been asked to act as Minister for Finance, replacing the late Ken Ofori-Atta, while Mr. Kofi Buah, a former Energy Minister, steps in as the acting Minister for Trade and Industry, following the death of K.T. Hammond.
In a statement issued from the Jubilee House, President Mahama said the appointments are aimed at ensuring “continuity of governance and stability” as the nation recovers from the shock of the tragedy.
“In these difficult times, we must not only mourn our fallen heroes but also honour their legacy by continuing the work they dedicated their lives to,” the President stated.
Ghanaians across the nation continue to pay tribute to the victims, with several state functions postponed in respect of the declared three days of national mourning.
