KGL EVE Medical Centre inaugurated to improve mental healthcare in Ghana

A new facility, the KGL EVE Medical Centre, has been inaugurated to strengthen mental healthcare provision across Ghana. The centre offers a comprehensive suite of services including psychiatric care, counselling, in-patient treatment and rehabilitative support with a commitment to accessibility and dignity.
Located near a major urban centre, the facility aims to serve a broad population including children, adults and the elderly. Its establishment reflects growing recognition of mental health as a critical component of national health and wellbeing strategy.
During the official opening, health sector leaders noted that the centre will help plug gaps in mental health access, reduce referral delays, and offer holistic care. They urged citizens to take advantage of the services and encouraged destigmatization of mental health issues through increased awareness and education.
Mental health advocates welcomed the development describing it as a major step toward transforming Ghana’s mental health landscape. They called for more such centres, investment in trained professionals, and support systems to ensure sustainable mental health care across regions.
With this new addition, Ghana moves closer to building a health system that addresses both physical and mental wellbeing, a move many see as critical for long-term public health, social harmony and national development.
