Fire Began At Dawn at Accra Tourist Information Centre
A devastating fire gutted the Accra Tourist Information Centre, located in Cantonments opposite Afrikiko, in the early hours of Monday, August 4, 2025. Eyewitnesses reported thick smoke rising from the premises, and preliminary accounts suggest the fire may have originated in the kitchen area of Rockz Waakye, a popular eatery run by music legend Reggie Rockstone and his wife. The blaze is believed to have begun around 1:00 a.m., according to reports by local media and officials. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported following the incident.
Swift emergency response and ongoing investigations
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded promptly, arriving at the scene just within minutes of the fire call out. Multiple fire tenders from various fire stations and a Rapid Intervention Vehicle were deployed. Firefighters battled the flames for over two hours and brought the blaze under control by approximately 3:32 a.m., before conducting thorough mop-up operations to fully extinguish hotspots. Following the incident, the GNFS confirmed that no injuries were recorded. Authorities have launched a full-scale investigation into the cause of the fire.
